Utilities and websites
Thought I'd make a list of useful tools for modding and research. Post yours here and I'll add them to the list.
EDIT: Found this thread (link). Some of the tools listed might be outdated though, so check that they're for the right version before using them.
Modding:
Paradoxian modding section - Eu3 modding tutorials and info.
Notepad++ - Notepad on crack. Much better for editing text than normal notepad.
Windows Grep - Program that lets you search inside several text files at once. Very useful for finding strings that you need to change/delete.
Research:
Geacron - Like google maps, but it lets you browse trough world history, year by year, going back to 3000BC.
World History Maps - Great maps from different years of history, including 650BC.
Perseus Digital Library - Many writings of mostly Greek and Roman authors, both in English and the original language.
Internet Classics Archive - English translations of ancient texts, like Herodotus, Confucius, Sun Tzu, Aristotle and more.
wildwinds/Coins - High quality pictures and descriptions of ancient coins. Greek, Roman, Celtic and more.
I can't add links because I just registered, I'll post them when I can.
Edit: Added links.

This is actually why I chose 650BC - there was a map .

Re: Utilities and websites
Check out the new link I added. It's at the bottom of the first post. Great if you need inspiration for flags.

this is excellent! will be very useful to find out which icons e.g. the various Greek city states used to denote themselves.

Re: Utilities and websites
I just found this: hegemonia, a mod for R:TW. Do you think they'll mind if we borrow some logos?
Re: Utilities and websites
That's where I found the Taras flag. I'm sure they won't mind.

Yeah I realize only now that many other Greek flags are from that mod :p.
I'll soon have a flag for Croton, Knossos, Rhodos, Syracuse and Thessaly.
Re: Utilities and websites
The Syracuse flag has a quadriga in it right?

I'm using this design.
Re: Utilities and websites
There is this game I played a lot as a kid called Spartan. I don't really know how much historically accurate it is but it can be a good start for flag and unit model in the greek area.

Will look into it! Most Greeks have flags now though.
